1965 Aston Martin DB5

Originally supplied via HWM on 4th June 1965 to the first owner Mr Cecil Lewis Esq of Harley House, Marylebone Road, London

The original build sheet confirms the DB5 was finished in Blue Sera coachwork with Blue Connolly leather hide, heated rear screen, twin Britax lap and diagonal safety belts, chrome wheels and special locks for both front seat squabs to prevent backrests tipping forward

Early factory records indicate the DB5 was driven regularly with mileage listed at 7444 miles during a visit in July 1966 and by October 1969 the mileage read 20,348 miles

Subsequent owners listed on the build sheet show Mr C.Richardson of Frognal Rise, Hampstead as the second owner followed by Mr Goodwin with a total of ten owners from new

The DB5 was used and maintained regularly throughout the majority of its life but by the 2000s the car was in need of restoration and was entrusted to marque specialists Goldsmith and Young for a comprehensive ‘body off’ restoration

Pre-restoration images on file show the car had been colour changed many years earlier to Dubonnet Rosso with Beige interior and had been converted to Vantage specification with Weber Carburettors but remained in very original and complete order

The body was removed which revealed extensive corrosion to the chassis, all of which was completely restored including renewing inner and outer chassis sections, trailing arm mounting area, lower mounting tubes, jacking points, inner wheel arches etc

New door skins were fabricated and fitted, new rear valance, new front panel and new sills etc with the process documented with invoices and photographs held on file

The original engine was fully rebuilt to 4.2L unleaded specification and returned to correct triple SU Carburettor setup, the suspension was uprated, thicker anti roll bar fitted, telescopic rear shock absorber conversion and aluminium radiator

The DB5 was painted in gorgeous ‘California Sage’ metallic green and fully re-trimmed in beige leather with the restoration being completed in early 2011. Since restoration the DB5 has covered just over 2100 miles.

Offered today in superb condition throughout, this beautifully presented and well documented DB5 has been professionally restored to a high standard and is ready for immediate use with its next lucky owner
