History

We are honoured to have been appointed as official agents for the sale of the esteemed collection of Mr Drew Pritchard, antique dealer extraordinaire and star of TV show ‘Salvage Hunters’

Offered direct from the collection of Drew Pritchard is this unique and attractive coach-built VW Porsche Kaiserslautern coupe, designed and constructed in period in Germany on a 1958 VW Karmann Ghia chassis as class project for respected automotive design trade school ‘MHK’ or ‘Mesiterschule Fur Handwerken’ based in Kaiserslautern, Germany (near Stuttgart)

During the mid-twentieth century the students at the school designed, engineered and produced four unique vehicles that took inspiration from the two most iconic vehicle manufacturers of the time, VW and Porsche

The coach-built bodywork was constructed in steel with an aluminium bonnet and boot lid fitted with Porsche 356 engine, brakes and 356 Carrera wheels and is believed to be one of four cars constructed by students of the school, all of which were different with unique styling characteristics

Later in the cars life it was exported to the USA and in 1992 it was documented at Sacromento ‘Bug-O-Rama’ and was later seen in 2004 at a VW show in Southern California

Imported in late 2020 by Drew, this highly original and utterly unique VW Porsche is offered with extensive period images and documentation relating to its build and is UK taxes paid. Without doubt a unique opportunity to acquire a very special period coach built motorcar
