History
‘Muscle car’ – a term used to describe a high-performance American coupe with rear-wheel drive and a large and very powerful V8 engine, personified perfectly in the form of this menacing 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 426 ‘Hemi’
One of the most iconic and mighty muscle cars of the period, the 1970 Challenger R/T gained notoriety when it starred in a leading role in the 1971 cult road film ‘Vanishing Point’ with Barry Newman
Constructed on June 8th 1970, this Challenger is an original ‘R-Code’ 426-4bbl Hemi engine example with factory rated 425 HP. One of just 137 original ‘426 Hemi’ coupes fitted with Hurst Pistol-Grip 4-speed manual transmission, period track tests quoted impressive quarter-mile times of 13.2 @ 108 mph
Presented today in exceptional restored condition throughout and finished in its original colour combination of ‘Hemi Orange’ (code EV2) with Black vinyl roof (code VX1), this Hemi Challenger is one of the rarest and most desirable muscle cars extant. Full details to follow
